Modern car seat belts have two core safety components: pretensioners and force limiters. The two parts cooperate precisely and sequentially in traffic accidents, forming a complete buffer restraint system to maximize protection for drivers and passengers. Traditional ordinary seat belts only have single restraint function, while the collaborative work of pretensioners and limiters can avoid excessive impact and insufficient restraint, balancing safety and comfort perfectly.
The pretensioner acts at the first moment of vehicle collision. When the vehicle sensor detects sudden deceleration and impact signals, the pretensioner triggers instantaneous ignition and driving mechanism, rapidly retracting the loose seat belt in a very short time. This process eliminates the gap between the belt and the human body, firmly binding the passenger on the seat, preventing forward rushing and body shaking caused by inertia, and completing the primary fixed restraint to avoid secondary collision injuries.
Immediately after the pretensioner works, the force limiter starts to function. After the belt is fully tensioned, the instantaneous impact force is extremely strong. The force limiter can intelligently control the belt’s tension output, maintain a stable and safe tension value, and properly release a small amount of webbing. This avoids physical injury caused by excessive belt tension on the chest and shoulders. The two components cooperate closely: pretensioning ensures effective restraint, and force limiting buffers impact pressure, realizing scientific and humanized passive safety protection for passengers in accidents.
